IB 10-Year Reunion Alumni Feature: Logan Marquardt

Throughout the spring and summer, we will be catching up with Kenmore West graduates who were a part of the first ever International Baccalaureate program at Ken-Ton. Check out our latest alumni update below.

Name: Logan Marquardt

Graduation Accomplishments: Logan graduated from Kenmore West in 2013 with an IB Diploma, and a Regents Diploma. She was a member of the National Honors Society, was the Class of 2013 Vice President, and was Varsity cheerleading captain.

On joining the IB Program, Logan said, I was interested in challenging myself in this ‘new’ program and personalizing my coursework to my own strengths and interests. I remember the responsibility we were given for the first time in a school setting and how independent it allowed us to be.”

Logan said one of her favorite things about the program was being a part of that first ever IB class. She said the class easily bonded because they had to work through those first two years together, which connected them and allowed them to get out of their comfort zones.

On the benefits of being in the IB program, Logan said, “I believe the program helped us mature and develop real-world skills that set us apart while applying to colleges and jobs after that.”

College Life: Logan attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2017 with a major in integrated marketing communications and a minor in public relations.

Post-College Journey: After college, Logan moved back to Buffalo and worked for Largo Capital, which is a Commercial Real Estate Finance Company. Her role was a Marketing Coordinator.

Where is she now? Logan is currently a Senior Legislative Assistant to a City of Buffalo Common Councilmember, a role she’s held since September 2020. Her job includes many different roles, such as providing constituent services and preparing legislative matters that pass through the City of Buffalo Common Council. She’s also had the opportunity to work on campaigns for other offices in WNY, including Amherst Supervisor and NYS Supreme Court Judge.

When speaking about her current position, Logan said, “I love what I do! I really enjoy being able to talk and work with so many different people. I love organizing different events and programs in our district for the community to take part in. It is fulfilling to be in this role of public advocacy.”

Logan is one of the many former IB graduates who plan to attend this Fall’s 10-year reunion of the first ever graduating class. She’s excited about catching up with former classmates and hear about their experiences over the last ten years.
